Ron Likovic was born and raised in Wickliffe, Ohio and began playing the button box accordion at the age of nine under the tutelage of Joe Kusar. Under Kudar's guidance, he entered eight contests, winning three first place awards. An avid listener of local bands playing Cleveland and European-style polka and waltzes, he eventually found his niche in the Slovenian style polka. He has been nominated for National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame Annual Achievement Award Button Box/ Individual Duet category from 1993 through 2005 and won in 1993 and 2004. After playing for many years in Ohio he started playing in Slovenian homes across the United State and has appeared with many bands and artists such as Jeff Pecan, Bob Kravos, Eric Noltkamper, Joey Miskulin, Fred Zwick, Don Lipovac, Joe Fadorcheck, The Vadnals, Joey Tomsic, Intense with Phil Srnik, Karl Lukish and Frank Stanger. As Likovic says, "Playing with all of these artists has done nothing but improve my skills as an artist and a musician." Links Coming soon |
