Lil' Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers
Lafayette, Louisiana
Zydeco

Li'l Nathan fronts the Zydeco Big TimersNathan James Williams Jr., aka “Lil' Nathan,” grew up in a zydeco family. His father is Nathan Williams, leader of Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, one of the top zydeco bands touring across the country, and his uncle Sid Williams, who is serving as manager of his nephew's band, is owner of El Sid O’s in Lafayette, one of the principal venues for zydeco music, a club where Buckwheat Zydeco used to perform regularly and where he recorded his last live album. Lil’ Nathan was only five when he began laying the rub board in his father’s band and, taught by his father, later moved on to the accordion and drums.  At age 14, he recorded his first CD with songs written by his father.

At the 2006 Great Lakes Folk Festival, Nathan (accordion, vocals) will be joined by Isiah Drew Williams (frottoir or scrub board), Allen Joseph Williams (bass), Richard Julian Primeaux (guitar), and Jermaine Joseph Prejean (drums).
